Nepal and Oman Secure ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Qualification

The slots for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka are nearly filled, with Oman and Nepal becoming the latest teams to book their place in the flagship event after emerging as the top two sides from the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. Both teams secured qualification following a dramatic series of close finishes in the Super Six stage, leaving UAE, Qatar, and Japan battling for the final spot. Led by Rohit Paudel, the Nepal cricket team continued its impressive run of form, winning back-to-back thrillers in the Super Six. With four wins from four games and eight points, Nepal is guaranteed a top-three finish. Hosts Oman, meanwhile, have won three of their four Super Six fixtures and, with six points, are assured of a top-three finish needed to progress. Although Oman and Nepal have sealed their spots for the 2026 T20 World Cup, one tournament berth remains open. UAE and Japan are still in contention and are set to face off next. Japan must defeat both UAE and Oman in their remaining matches to keep their fairy-tale run alive. Qatar and Samoa, who meet later, still have slim mathematical hopes as well, depending on results and net run rate. With Oman and Nepal joining the qualified teams, 19 of the 20 spots for the 2026 World Cup have now been confirmed. 2026 T20 World Cup Qualified Teams: India Sri Lanka Afghanistan Australia Bangladesh England South Africa United States West Indies Ireland New Zealand Pakistan Canada Italy Netherlands Namibia Zimbabwe Nepal Oman
